Corn Calendar Spread Options

Corn Calendar Spread Options Meaning:
In commodity market terminology, Corn Calendar Spread Options (CSO) refers to options on the price differential between two contract months in corn futures, and not on the underlying future itself. Corn refers to a tall cereal grass which grows kernels on ears and is used for food for humans and animals.

The CME group offers three Corn Calendar Spread Options which are: July-December CSO, December-July CSO and December-December CSO. Corn Calendar Spread Options offer the hedger useful protection against adverse moves in the price spreads of corn from one calendar month to another.
