Chana Meaning:
In commodity market terminology, Chana is also known as chickpeas and is a major pulse crop which is rich in protein and also used in making flour. Two types of chana exist according to color, seed size and taste, Kabuli and Desi. India is the leading producer and consumer of chana with an annual production of between 4 and 7 million tons per year.

Chana futures are traded on the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) and the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) all in India. Contracts on the NCDEX are for 10 metric tons per unit and are quoted in Indian Rupees with a minimum fluctuation of 0.10 or 10 paise. Futures contracts are available for all months and the delivery date upon which all outstanding positions result in delivery is on the 20th day of each month. Chana’s symbol on the NCDEX is CHARJDDEL.
